Bayelsa Guber: Litmus test for APC, PDP, says NDDC Boss

With emergence of the former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and former governor of Bayelsa Sate, Timipre Sylva, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the governorship candidate of the party, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Samuel Omgbuku, has said the November 11 governorship election in the state will determine the dominant party in the state.

Sylva emerged winner of APC governorship primary, though in a controversial circumstances, as two of the aspirants had since faulted the outcome of the election.

But the NDDC boss, who spoke with journalists after casting his vote in his hometown, Ayakoro Community, at unit 1, Ward 3, in Ogbia Constituency ll rerun election, said the APC is ready to reclaim its mandate in November.

The NDDC helmsman claimed that if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) didn’t steal the APC mandate in 2019, the party would have been governing the state currently.

He said: “If you say Bayelsa State is a PDP state, APC won the last elections, though the PDP snatched it from us. So, you cannot say it’s PDP state; maybe at the next governorship election, we would know which party won the election.”

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). On the arrival of late materials to the poling unit, Chief Dr Samuel Ogbuku who is also the Deputy Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro explained that”The materials arrived late because they are coming all the way from Yenagoa this morning.The materials did not arrived at the RAC center last night because of the security situation”.
