The Bayelsa State Police Command has announced that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing of Auwalu Aliyu, the manager of Plateau Drivers bus station, who was shot and killed by suspected armed robbers on Tuesday night.

Aliyu was reportedly murdered near the Bayelsa State House of Assembly complex on Imgbi Road in the state capital around 9:00 p.m.

The deceased was said to be on his way home after closing for the day when he was attacked by the suspected robbers, who also stole his daily income.

The Commissioner of Police, Alonyenu Francis Idu, confirmed the incident, stating that the manner in which the station manager was killed is alien to Bayelsa State.

“The manner the station manager was killed is alien to Bayelsa State. We have the suspicion that the deceased was stalked from Plateau to Bayelsa and killed or his death is related to the group of criminal elements currently assembling at the Ogbia local government area,” Idu said.

“So the circumstances surrounding the death of the deceased are two-dimensional. Our drone was able to capture the signatures of the vehicle that was used to carry out the operation. The last time the vehicle was sighted was when it was heading towards Ogbia.

“As I am speaking to you, the location of the vehicle is yet to be known but we are sure we will get it soon because we have every detail of the car. So we sympathise with the family of the deceased but we are sure they will get justice and that will happen very soon.”
