The Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello has enjoined the people in the sate to intensify their prayers for a peaceful society. Bello gave the charge last Friday shortly after performing the two Raka’at prayer alongside Emir of Suleja, Mallam Muhammad Awwal Ibrahim, at the Dawaki Eid praying ground in Suleja. The governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mrs Mary Noel Berje noted that for few months now, the state had experienced relative peace, though not without pockets of challenges.
Bello said: “Generally, we thank God that Niger State has been relatively calm and peaceful, especially for about a year, but we still need to intensify prayers and be tolerant of each other.”
While describing Suleja as an important local government to the state due to its proximity to Abuja, the governor decried the security and environmental hazards being experienced by the residents.
According to him, “There is a lot of pressure on their infrastructure, but the Council Chairman and other government agencies are doing their best to make sure the residents of Suleja are comfortable.”
The Eid Chief Imam Suleja, Imam Abdullahi Kassim who led the two Raka’at prayer reminded the congregation of the need for them to sustain the lessons learnt during the Ramadan and ensure their goodness and kindness to the less privileged goes beyond Ramadan.
