Bimbo Oloyede unveils ‘command your stage’

Veteran broadcaster, Bimbo Oloyede, has unveiled her latest book, Command Your Stage, in Lagos. Guess at the event included former governor and deputy governor, former bank boss, journalists, mentees, students of secondary schools, family members and friends of the author.

The Chairman of the event, former Managing Director of GTB Bank, Fola Adeola, commended the author for the book because of the importance of the topic discussed in the book.

He added that his generation is proud of the author and her staying power over the years has shown that it is not true that going to Abuja to look for contract is the way to make a good living.

Adeola said: “It is not true that integrity does not pay. It is not true that professional proficiency doesn’t get you anywhere. It is not true that living your values, you are just wasting your time. It is not true that unless you fly to Abuja every other day to go and look for contracts, is the only way to make a living. It is not true.”

On his part, former Governor of Cross River, Donald Duke while eulogising the author, described her as being audacious for having the courage to put pen to paper about her profession.

Former Director General, National Broadcasting Commission, Dr Danladi Bako, while reviewing the book, said: “Command your stage” is a 272-page introspection, interrogation and examination of the art and science of public speaking and contextual presentation.

He added that the book is packaged and delivered in twelve chapters of precise, descriptive, unambiguous free-flowing prose laced with intellectual sagacity and journalistic expertise so much that the reader is likely to believe that the author indeed has a Doctor of Philosophy degree in elocution as well as literature in English.

Bako further said that the depth of the linguistic prosecution of the message of the book is about one of the finest and most lucid one he has read in a very long time.

“The author explores and utilises English language and choice of words with dexterity of a seasoned literary colossus.” A panel discussion about broadcasting and broadcast presentation in Nigeria wrapped up the book launch.
