Urhobo born businessmen, Uba Michael recently paid a courtesy visit to the oldest monarch in Nigeria, HRM, Dr. (Ovie) R.L. Ogbon, Ogoni-Oghoro 1 OON, the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom on how successes recorded in the Niger Delta can be built on and the development of human capital.
Michael, who is also a good governance advocate, during the visit, reiterated the need for having youths in the Niger Delta who are productive, innovative and employable, saying that he decided to fetch from the well of knowledge of the monarch with the visit to get insight on what can be done to achieve this.
He said, “Following conversations with the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, I was marveled by the vast knowledge of history and sharp memory of the 104 year old monarch, who also has an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Little wonder the management of the Delta State University, Abraka conferred the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom with an honorary doctorate degree.
“I particularly sought audience with the Ovie of Olomu in the call for peace, oneness and Urhobo unity, as the Ohworode is one leader, who occupies one of the oldest stools, and a pivotal position in Urhobo. I also sought counsel, prayers and royal blessings from the Ohworode for the journey ahead.”
Michael also called for better politics in Delta State, condemning a killing that occurred during the just concluded local government elections.
In reaction, the monarch said he is open to welcoming systems and companies that will promote human capital development in the region and promised to work together with those looking to make it happen.
