Bobrisky pleads guilty to naira abuse

EFCC arrests Bobrisky

Popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky, has pleaded guilty to four counts bordering on naira abuse.

Bobrisky was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Federal High Court, Lagos on Friday.

Before the charge was read, EFCC’s counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, asked the court to strike out counts five and six bordering on money laundering allegations.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro subsequently struck out counts five and six.


This led to the arraignment of Bobrisky on only counts one to four which is on naira abuse.

When the counts were read, Bobrisky was asked if he understood the charge that was read to him, he replied, “yes, I am guilty”.

Bobrisky was charged with six counts of abusing naira and laundering money when he was detained by the EFCC on Wednesday.

The last two counts of the charge were linked with money laundering, while the first four counts is on naira abuse.


Also, he was accused in the first count of the charge sheet filed by EFCC Prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, of tampering with the sum of N400,000 by spraying it while dancing at a social event at the IMAX Circle Mall in Lekki, Lagos.

In the second count it was stated that Bobrisky spent July and August 2023 at Aja Junction, Ikorodu and tampered with an additional N50,000 by dancing while spray-painting it at a social gathering.
