Bolanle Austen-Peters, Netflix To Release House Of Ga’a

Netflix has announced its upcoming release, “House of Ga’a,” directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters, as a way to commemorate women in arts.


The film delves into the 18th-century life of Bashorun Ga’a, a kingmaker in the old Oyo empire,

Dorothy Ghettuba, Netflix’s Director of Content in Sub-Saharan Africa, expressed excitement about collaborating with one of the formidable women of the Nigerian film community.

“We are happy to work with the female powerhouse in the creative industry and bring to life the awesome projects that reflect their stories and promote our culture,” Dorothy said


The film, set to stream on Netflix later this year, explores the era when Bashorun Ga’a wielded unparalleled power, enthroning and dethroning kings at will.

Director, Austen-Peters, is known for her different successful projects in the film industry with films like “Man of God,”

Though no date for its release is confirmed yet, Netflix’s commitment to female-led projects doesn’t end with “House of Ga’a.”

The streaming app is also working towards the conclusion of projects like, Mo Abudu’s “Baby Farm” series and “Òlòtūré: The Journey” film, Hamisha Daryani Ahuja’s “Postcards” series, and Kemi Adetiba’s “To Kill a Monkey” series.
