Lagos State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Olabode Agoro, has charged youths in the country to brace up for the leadership challenges rocking the country and contribute their quota to the development of the nation.
Agoro gave the advice on Thursday while speaking at the re-commissioning of Isheri Primary Health Centre and the official Capstone project launch for the Greater Health Project. The initiative is championed and funded by the fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA Team Impact).
The Lagos HoS, who commended the fellows of the academy for their contributions to the development of society, urged other youths to emulate the fellows.
“The youth should emulate what the youths of Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy have done, which is to take up projects, fund them, and commission them.
“We are looking for youths to become part of the government, join the government, because if you don’t join the government, you won’t have a say in creating policies. By joining the local government, state civil service, and public service, together you are the future. We need people to hand over to, we need them at local, state, and federal levels, we need them in the system so that things like this can be promoted further,” he said.
The Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayoress Samiat Bada, appreciated the Academy for the laudable programme aimed at improving healthcare services for the people of the area.
She also acknowledged the efforts of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for ensuring development at the grassroots level, including in health, tourism, and transportation.
In his welcome address, the project team lead, Michael Ogunkoya, appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu and his team for giving them a platform to bring out their hidden talent. He said that before their intervention, the health centre being re-commissioned lacked good structure and sustainable energy systems.
“Today, I am pleased to announce that we have installed a solar inverter system, upgraded the structure, and introduced electronic medical record (EMR) systems.”
Apart from the renovation of the health centre, the fellows also organised medical outreach, campaigns against domestic violence, and other activities within Ikosi Isheri communities.
