Branding isn’t just about aesthetics — Akintunde-Johnson

Entertainment guru, Dr. Bada Akintunde-Johnson, has urged professionals in the creative industry to employ good personal and business branding strategies to raise the bar in their careers, while attesting that branding is a game changer in the sector.

He said this while speaking at ‘The Audacity’ conference, held recently in Lagos.

Akintunde-Johnson, who is the Country Manager, Paramount, stated that strength and passion are crucial to identifying the uniqueness in a creative individual’s output. This, he says, makes it easy to craft a formidable personal brand.

He pointed out the usefulness of messaging, urging Creative professionals to ensure they communicate a specific message to their audience to create engaging visuals for brand promotion, “branding isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about how you communicate with your customers,” he said.

He encouraged participants to be consistent especially in the making of their visual identity, which is a symbolic representation of their personality and craft.

Explaining further, he said: “in establishing yourself in a world that seems to have created everything possibly creative, you must start with an investment in creating a visual identity that represents your brand’s personality and values.”

He also added that building a strong online presence on the various social media platforms is core to boosting brand awareness.

According to him, content peddling, marketing and advertising could be used as a means of increasing visibility and audience reach.

“Whether you’re branding yourself or your business, focus on providing value to your clients and customers. Make sure your messaging emphasises how you can help solve their problems and meet their needs,” he added.
