Breaking barriers: Ladies Who Golf founders shares vision for inclusive golfing

Ladies Who Golf has emerged as the largest golf community for black women across the United States, fostering an inclusive environment that blends elegance with excellence. Founded on September 16, 2023, by mother-daughter duo Keyeriah and Lashonda Miles, this prestigious community now spans major cities such as Chicago, Dallas, D.C., Houston, New York, and Los Angeles.

“Golf has long been seen as a ‘boys only’ club,” says Keyeriah Miles. “We’re here to change that narrative and make golf more diverse and accessible for all women.”

Ladies Who Golf caters to professional career women by offering beginner-friendly group sessions and opportunities to engage on social and charitable levels. While the majority of its members are women of colour, the community is open to all women, emphasizing inclusivity.

The community’s success is attributed to its unique approach to the sport. By providing resources, mentorship, and promoting mental health awareness, Ladies Who Golf is breaking traditional boundaries in the golfing world. “Our goal is to transcend the traditional boundaries of golf and create a space where women can excel both on and off the course,” says Miles.

Women from various professional backgrounds are invited to elevate their golf game through inclusive one-hour group sessions. These sessions offer expert guidance, allowing participants to unleash their potential, forge new friendships, and build networking bonds. The experience is capped off with the signature Ladies Who Golf Social Hour, where members celebrate their achievements.

Keyeriah Miles, an avid golfer for three years, alongside LWG’s President of Golf Operations, Brittany Dawn Damper, a former collegiate golfer for the University of Notre Dame, leads the organisation. Through their diversity and inclusion initiatives, the LWG team focuses on providing resources for community charitable efforts, mentoring youth golfers, and promoting mental health through monthly wellness events.

“Our diversity and inclusion initiatives are central to our mission,” says Miles. “We aim to provide professional development opportunities and create bonds among like-minded women, fostering a supportive and empowering community.”

Ladies Who Golf’s rapid growth and impact reflect its commitment to making the game of golf accessible and enjoyable for all women. The community not only advances the sport but also enriches the lives of its members through a blend of professional development, wellness, and social engagement.

“We are proud of the community we’ve built and the difference we are making in the lives of women,” Miles said. “Ladies Who Golf is about more than just golf; it’s about creating a legacy of empowerment and inclusion.”
