The Commander, 31 Artillery Brigade, Brig-Gen. Hamidu Bobbo, has urged soldiers to continue with their duty of protecting the country, assuring that the military’s high command will encourage them for efficiency.

Bobbo stated this, at the weekend, when the 31 Artillery Brigade, Minna Military Cantonment, organised the West African Social Activities (WASA) to showcase the diverse cultures within the barracks.

The event, which held at the Minna Military Cantonment Parade Ground, also afforded members of the Nigeria Army and their families the atmosphere to socialise and interact with their friends outside the military.

Noting that it is better late than never, the commander explained to journalists that WASA 2022 was celebrated in 2023 due to exigencies of duty that warranted the continued engagement of the Brigade in various operational activities in Niger State, up to the general elections and supplementary elections.

The General said: “WASA is a highly cherished aspect of regimentation, which is an important part of the ethics and tradition of the Nigerian Army. Soldiers will not allow it to die.”

WASA, he added, is a forum that provides for social interaction within the barracks community, away from wars and other conflict-related issues.

The Brigade, according to him, had undertaken several joints missions to tackle contemporary security challenges bedevilling the country.

Earlier, the Special Guest of Honour, Col. Gordon Ogu (rtd), lauded the soldiers and officers of the Artillery for a colourful outing at the event.

Ogu equally thanked the commander for making the event a reality.
