Building new Niger non-negotiable, says Bago

Umaru Bago, Niger State governor

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has said his resolve to build a new Niger State is non-negotiable, asserting that his one year in office is full of unprecedented activities with remarkable impact in all spheres of the economy.

In a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim, to commemorate his first anniversary in office, Bago described the past year as a foundation-laying period.

The governor disclosed that the ongoing infrastructural development across the state under his urban renewal policy, the green economy initiative and the agricultural revolution, among others, were the tip of the iceberg compared to what his administration intended to achieve at the end of its first tenure.

On armed banditry, the governor assured that efforts were being redoubled to tame the tide, re-emphasising that the emergency on thuggery was still in force, especially in Minna and its environs.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Binta Mamman, however, noted that the first anniversary would be celebrated low-key.

While briefing newsmen at the Government House Press Gallery, yesterday, she said Bago had done so much to implement people-oriented projects in all spheres of human endeavour to alleviate the living conditions of the citizenry.
