After stamping his footprint in the Naija music scene, with his array of hit singles, duets and his debut extended playlist, Sorry I’m Late, the Akwa-Ibom indigene has transitioned from his old moniker to a closer-knit identifier as Bnxn (pronounced Benson).
The surprising twist is part of the singer’s strategies for industry distinction, as his name has constantly caused confusion with fans due to the similarities with acclaimed Jamaican music veteran Buju Banton.
In a statement released by the singer, Bnxn, who is popular for his hits such as Spiritual (feat Zlatan), Lenu (feat Burna Boy), among others, the transition is also part of his journey to self-discovery.
“It should be appreciated by the general public that Daniel Benson shall now be addressed professionally as ‘BNXN’ concerning all future formal and business correspondence. Other than the formal change of his professional/stage name, all other details, structures, as well as previous or current contracts and other agreements remain intact and unaltered.”
Upon his breakout into the Nigerian music scene, in 2019, Bnxn signed with Burna Boy’s Spaceship Records label, before leaving to pitch camp with his own label, To Your Ears Entertainment.
