An aide to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has debunked claims that the country’s officials demanded bribery from Binance.

The CEO of the cryptocurrency giant Richard Teng claimed in a blog post on Binance’s website that its officials relayed the demanded through its Nigerian lawyers.

“Any Nigerian who believes they are a patriot and believes this bullcrap should check themselves,” Tinubu’s aide on social media Dada Olusegun said on X.

Teng said the officials wanted the “secret payment” to be made in cryptocurrency within 48 hours.

“We, of course, declined the payment demand via our counsel, not viewing it to be a legitimate settlement offer,” he wrote.
