Business mogul pledges moot court for LAUTECH, offers jobs to three graduates

Oludare Akande

Philanthropist and international business mogul in the area of aviation, Dr. Oludare Akande, has called on Nigerians to give back to the education sector in the country.

While he said the government alone cannot be left with the responsibility of funding education, Akande said by giving back to the education sector, “we are all contributing towards human development and resources, which is the best form of ways in growing a nation.”

Akande, who also promise to facilitate a standard Moot Court, for the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, said the Moot Court is aimed to be used in the training of students in the institution’s impending Faculty of Law.

The philanthropist also offered letters of employment to three graduates of LAUTECH. The beneficiaries are Oladoja Olalade, the overall best student during the last convocation ceremony of the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Others were Ajayi Peter Adewale, who studied Computer Engineering and Arawole Mercy Olamide, a graduate of Computer Science.

The university has indicated its readiness to start its Faculty of Law, which is awaiting National University Commission (NUC) final approval to commence academic activities.

Moot Court is a co-curricular activity that is usually based in the Faculty of law, where participants take part in simulated court or arbitration proceedings, usually involving drafting memorials or memoranda and participating in oral argument.

Akande, who visited the leadership of the university yesterday, said he would build a Moot Court for LAUTECH, even as the Institution warms up to start training of Lawyers.

Akande explained that the gesture was to give back to the society as a form of appreciating the favour of God in his life.

Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Rom Kalilu, appreciated Akande’s intervention in the university by offering job and cash gifts to the best graduate of the university. He equally offered jobs to some other graduates who did well in their studies during the 16th convocation ceremonies.

He said the university was determined to continue to provide unique human development to enhance the Nigerian workplace.
