Aero MRO gets regional, international interest

Aero Contractors said that its upgraded maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, are generating interest from regional and international airline operators.

The airline, in a statement on Monday, said the MRO facility was showcased at the just-concluded Aviation Africa Summit and Exhibition held in Kigali, Rwanda.

Aero’s MRO has capabilities covering line and base maintenance for Boeing 737 Classic and NGs, as well as regional jets and turboprops, helicopter maintenance for both scheduled and unscheduled checks, including the AW139 and other rotary platforms and a modern workshop for spare parts.

Speaking on the MRO’s capacity, Head of the Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO), Aero Contractors, James Ominyi, said the exhibition of the facility generated strong interest from all major operators within the continent and beyond.

“Our improved capabilities and ongoing upgrades are attracting significant attention from airlines looking to reduce costs and turnaround times by carrying out their heavy maintenance checks within Africa,” he said.

Also, Chief Financial Officer of Aero Contractors, Charles Grant, said that with over six decades of aviation heritage, Aero was building on its legacy to serve the next generation of African operators.

He explained that its upgraded MRO was a clear signal that Africa had the expertise and infrastructure to sustain its aviation industry locally, while saving costs, creating jobs and retaining value on the continent.
