The CEO of Wakanow Group, Adebayo Adedeji, has shared his insights on how Africa’s travel industry can drive economic growth during an interview with CNN’s Marketplace Africa.

He also discussed how the company is using technology, partnerships and support for local businesses to make travel easier and more affordable across the continent.

“Travel within the continent has the potential to not only enhance connectivity among African nations but also spur job creation and stimulate local economies,” Adedeji said, emphasizing the untapped potential of intra-African travel.

One of Wakanow’s key strategies is the use of fintech solutions to give travellers more payment flexibility.

“Our goal is to remove barriers to travel, and fintech plays a critical role in making this a reality,” he explained.

By offering payment plans, the company helps more people afford trips while also boosting the local tourism economy.

Wakanow is also building partnerships with airlines to create affordable and accessible travel options.

“Affordable air travel is a catalyst for intra-African tourism,” he noted, highlighting how the collaborations are improving connectivity across the continent.

Also, the company invests in local travel operators by providing tools and resources to help them succeed. This approach strengthens small businesses and ensures that the benefits of tourism reach communities at all levels.
