Firm launches challenge to drive innovation in food, gas sectors

To harness the innovative power of youths, Kike AI, Nigeria’s first intelligent kitchen assistant platform, has launched the Kike AI Campus Impact Challenge (KCIC) 2025.

In a statement, the organisers said undergraduates and postgraduates are the target with the aim of igniting student-driven solutions in food and gas sectors through entrepreneurship, media creation, research, and policy innovation.

Powered by SMEFUNDS, the initiative, the organisers said is more than just a challenge, but a mission to empower young change makers to tackle real-life problems in Nigeria’s kitchen and cooking gas economy using creativity, collaboration, and technology.

The CEO of SMEFUNDS, Femi Oye, said the KCIC is about solutions, leadership, and impact. “We want students to think beyond theory—to act, build, and shape the future of our gas and food systems.”

Participants will collaborate in teams of three to five students to take on one or more of the following challenge tracks – Stakeholder Research & Mapping: Identify key actors across gas, food, and logistics sector; Gas Distribution Innovation.

Propose smarter, scalable distribution models; Vendor E-commerce & Chef Onboarding: Grow the Kike AI network with real users; Viral Skit & Content Creation: Drive signups and awareness through creative media; and Policy & Strategy Development: Draft data-backed white papers to guide national reforms.

The orgnisers said N2.5m is the grand prize for the overall best team, while N1,250, 000, N500,000 and N250,000 will be prize for the first place, second place and third place, respectively.

“All-expenses-paid trip to New York for the top individual performer; internships, fellowships, and Demo Day pitching opportunities; tech gadgets, Kike AI swag kits, and career support for the top 10 teams; completion certificates and portfolio recognition for all finalists.”

While application opens on April 28, team confirmation and briefing are on May 9. Execution period is between May 12 – June 12; June 13 is the submission deadline, while June 25 is demo day and grand prize announcement.

“Eligible students can apply online as a Team or register as Campus Ambassadors to lead activation efforts across universities. Both roles come with mentorship, leadership training, and growth opportunities.

“This challenge is part of Kike AI’s broader mission to onboard 10,000 B2B vendors and reaches 1 million users in 2025.

“We are using this platform to find the next wave of innovators, marketers, media minds, and ecosystem shapers. It’s time to build with Nigeria’s brightest students,” said Oye.
