OPAY has completed its 10-week security campaign across all social media platforms, marking the official launch of its seven security features to strengthen customers’ funds.
The mobile financial services platform also rewarded the final winners of the “My OPay Security Vote Challenge” across the four major social media platforms, which include Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter).
The winners, identified as Adegoke Adewunmi, Onyinye Ekeogu, Ezeonwuka Greatness, and Charles Lhugba, were rewarded with ₦1 million each.
In the past weeks, several participants had won ₦50,000.
The campaign, which was officially launched in the first week of August 2025, was designed to protect and promote financial literacy, ensuring every user is better equipped to transact securely in today’s fast-paced digital environment.
Speaking at the grand prize ceremony held at its headquarters in Lagos on Friday, Chief Commercial Officer of OPay, Elizabeth Wang, restated the firm’s commitment to making financial services more inclusive through technology.
She said: “For our customers, we want to assure them that their accounts and funds are secure with us, and this is why we have decided to unveil our seven security features.”
She expressed appreciation to their customers for their constructive feedback, noting that it has helped the company improve its engagement strategies to ensure customer satisfaction better.
She added that this feedback inspired the initiative to raise awareness about OPay’s seven in-app security features: Scam Alert, Night Guard, Large Transaction Shield, Online Subscription Control, USSD Lock, Large Transaction Double Check, and Emergency Lock.
Wang announced the launch of an additional product to enhance the security of customers’ accounts, which is the location guide.
She added, “This feature will allow you to select where you are, and when the phone is outside where you select, we will not grant you access to your money. However, when you change location, face verification will be required to perform any transaction.”
In his remarks, Enterprise Marketing Manager at OPay, Oluwaseun Imade, also restated the firm’s commitment to securing customers’ funds from fraudsters through innovation and technology.
He noted that the challenge was not just to reward participants but to create a safer digital environment for millions of Nigerians.
Leading Nigeria’s most influential creators who graced the event include Funke Akindele, Brainjotter, Broda Shaggi, and Layi, who all participated in the OPay 10-week security campaign.
In her remarks, Funke Akindele commended OPay for its innovation and swift action in developing the security features, noting that it is never easy to work hard only to lose one’s money.
She said, “Imagine the scam alerts, and you notice they flagged the account, will you continue? Imagine you want to send huge money, and they call you to confirm, is that not wonderful? Thank you for prioritising the interests of Nigerians.”
Brainjotter also commended the fintech company, describing the products as amazing features capable of providing security for customers’ funds.
“Some people have lost their lives to scams. Thieves no longer steal phones because of the phone but because of the money, and some even use the stolen phones to obtain loans without the owner being aware,” he added.
