An underwriting firm, NEM Insurance Plc has called on Nigerians, including business owners, to embrace insurance policies to safeguard life and property, as it remains the only ethical policy that offers huge benefits to all members of society.

This was the submission echoed by the Chief Executive Officer, NEM Insurance, Tope Smart, at the firm’s Fitness Walk, held in Lagos. He said only someone who is physically and mentally fit can practice insurance as a profession.

Smart, who was represented by the Executive Director, Marketing and Business Development, Andrew Ikekhua, while speaking with journalists, said the company introduced the fitness walk as a form of exercise as well as to enhance insurance awareness among Nigerians.

Ikekhua said the programme is an avenue to promote the name and insurance products of the company for people within its environs.

“We have been able to create awareness about insurance as we walk because people keep asking who we are and what we do and in the process of answering them, we are educating them and deepening insurance penetration,” he said.

While urging Nigerians to insure their risk exposures, he advised people to approach his underwriting firm for their general insurance products and services.

“Once you have an insurance policy, it will appear that you have not lost anything because when there is a disaster, you are sure of a replacement, except for the emotional trauma of the incident that one may experience,” he stressed.

He advised Nigerians to insure their risks by subscribing to insurance products to take care of all their assets and restore any financial loss.
