Candybleakz, Simi unite in Wale remix

Candybleakz

Chocolate City’s rap femcee, CandyBleakz, is back with another statement-making record dubbed, Wale remix. Uniting with the Afro-RnB enigma, Simi, the record showcases the prowess of both music divas on a reflective tune.

Renowned for her ability to seamlessly blend the indigenous Yoruba language with elements of Afrobeats and Street-pop, CandyBleakz, aka Ladies Dragon, remains one of the few female voices making a name in Nigerian street-pop.

After asserting her musical prowess in the previous year with the explosive two-pack release, Free for All and Not Holy, CandyBleakz kicks off 2024 with this soul-stirring record which serves as a beacon of encouragement to other female Afrobeat stars to collaborate with one another.

In the mid-tempo song, CandyBleakz explores the relatable struggles of life and the quest for greener pastures. Simi’s feature adds a layer of emotional depth, creating a captivating listening experience that encourages reflection on the journey toward success and sharing that success with family.

Born Blessing Akiode, the 25-year-old began her journey in music from church choir at the age of eight, but it was not until she won a school competition while filling in for an absentee performer that her passion for music as a career was sparked. She slowly began writing lyrics, recording lyrics, and participating in more talent shows to hone her craft.

Candy Bleakz was retained as a solo act in Chocolate City and unveiled in 2020 with her first debut single under the new deal, Kelegbe. Later that year, she released Won La, which got her nominated for Best Female Rapper at the Africa Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), among other accolades.
