Chris Gauthier, Actor in “Smallville” and “Once Upon a Time,” Passes Away at 48

Chris Gauthier, a Canadian actor known for his roles in “Once Upon a Time,” “Smallville,” and “Eureka,” has tragically passed away at the age of 48. According to his management, Gauthier passed away due to an unspecified short illness.

In a heartfelt statement posted on Facebook, Chad Colvin from TriStar Appearances confirmed the devastating news. He expressed deep sorrow and shared memories of their friendship:

“When his wife reached out to me yesterday with the news, I wept tears of disbelief for hours. It’s taken me until now to fully mentally and emotionally steel myself to write this. Chris was the literal textbook definition of a character actor. You may not have known his name, but you knew his face, you knew his voice, and you knew that if he was on screen, you were in for a helluva ride.”

Gauthier’s career spanned over two decades, with appearances in numerous popular shows and movies. He was perhaps best recognized for his recurring roles as Vincent, a gourmet chef in the sci-fi series “Eureka,” and Mr. Smee, Captain Hook’s loyal first mate, in the fantasy drama “Once Upon a Time.”

He also had notable appearances in shows like “Smallville,” “Supernatural,” “Psych,” and “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” Beyond television, Gauthier’s film credits included “Watchmen,” “Agent Cody Banks,” and “Little Man.”

Chris Gauthier leaves behind his wife and children, and his legacy as a talented actor will continue to resonate with fans and fellow artists alike. May he rest in peace.
