CIFCFIN confirms Salifu as registrar, chief executive

The Council of the Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN) has confirmed the appointment of Dr Isa Salifu as its substantive registrar/chief executive officer.


This was disclosed at its first extraordinary meeting for 2024. Salifu has been acting in that capacity for the past few months, providing needed leadership and stability to the CIFCFIN secretariat.

His confirmation is geared towards repositioning the efforts of the institute in carrying out its mandate of rooting out fraud and corruption in Nigeria using cutting-edge forensic tools and expertise. CIFCFIN is the only professional body chartered by statute with a multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral mandate to advance and promote the practice of forensics and fraud investigations in Nigeria.


Salifu is an accomplished and seasoned professional, a banker, chartered accountant, tax consultant, certified forensic expert/accountant and certified management consultant with diverse educational, professional and career achievements.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, MSc in Technology Innovation and Development of SMEs from Ogun State University and a PhD in Security and Strategic Studies from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

His career in the financial services space spanned various roles in banking institutions, including Ecobank Nigeria Limited, where he rose to the position of Deputy General Manager, overseeing Corporate Banking Group, North Region and Public Sector/Corporates, pan Nigeria.

He was, at various times, Branch Manager, Divisional Head, Regional Head, Group Head and Ag. Executive Director, North in New Africa Merchant Bank; Intercity Bank, Diamond Bank, City Express Bank and Afribank Plc (Mainstreet Bank), respectively.
