Cleric urges Tinubu to jettison ethnicity, tackle insecurity

President Bola Tinubu

A Nigerian cleric based in the United States of America (USA), Pastor Paul Onaibu Akhalu has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to unite Nigerians, saying in unity the country would attain its God-given leadership position amid the comity of nations.

Akhalu enjoined the President to jettison ethnicity and promote unity by resolving all regional disputes, adding Nigerians should be free to live and work in any part of the country.

He said: “All over the world Nigerians are making impact. Anywhere you go, you will see Nigerians. For example in the U.S., especially where I reside, Nigerians are one or two of the 10 people you see there. In any group, if a Nigerian is not there, the group is not complete. Somebody once told me that anywhere you go in the world, if you see any black person, he must be a Nigerian and I think that is true. We have some Nigerians who are doing well as lawyers, medical doctors and so on. Why can’t they come and contribute their quota in the development of the country.

“One of the problems we have is that the political space is unsettled and this is disturbing. The insecurity is on the high side and they are scared to come home. I will call on the President to unite the country, do away with ethnic sentiment, because it won’t help us.” For when there is peace, there will be developments. We should strive to ensure the country is safe as this will bring developments.”
