Coalition urges Tinubu to strengthen fight against corruption

A Coalition of civil society organisations, under the auspices of Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen the fight against corruption and block avenues where corrupt practices are being perpetrated.

Leader of the group, Rasak Olokoba, who gave the charge during a media briefing in Lagos, urged the public and well-meaning Nigerians to be wary of the antics of elements profiting from the proceeds of corruption who have been trying to rubbish the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Olokoba said: “The anti-corruption agencies were at a period perceived in some quarters as rabid hounds for persecution of political foes. In another season, fears were raised on “who shall watch over the watchdogs?

“Despite these apprehensions, the agencies marched on stridently to block corruption on our scarce public funds. This is an inevitable imperative for the government if it must meet with onerous duties to provide social infrastructure and welfare services for hapless Nigerians.”

The CDG convener, therefore, urged Tinubu to, as a matter of necessity, not only retain the Abdurasheed Bawa-led administration of the EFCC but also strengthen it more vigorously with all the required tools and logistics to enable the agency to accomplish all the plans towards the successful fight against corruption.
