The Ogun State, Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker has commended Rotary Club of Gbagada for its immense contribution to health sector both in Ogun and Lagos States.

He observed that Ogun State citizens have been beneficiaries of the generosity of the club through various impactful projects in maternal and child health over the years, which include “Helping Babies Breathe” workshops, Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for girls and eradication of polio across Nigeria.

Coker stated this during a book launch by the club titled: “The Champion at 40, celebrating four Decades of Serving Humanity” held at Yoruba Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos.

The Club’s President, Olubunmi Oguntade, disclosed that her projects include remodeling and extension of pediatrics ward at Gbagada General hospital at a cost of N30 million, which was commissioned by the Deputy Governor, Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat recently. The 25-bed outpatient ward was donated to the hospital in 1989.

Vice-Chancellor, National Open University, Prof Olufemi Peters, who reviewed the book, said the ten-chapter book is loaded with uncommon and laudable achievements that touched lives in Rotary International seven areas of focus.
