Colleagues launch search for missing 24-year-old KWASU student

Jimoh Abdulmueez

Students of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, have launched a search for a missing 24-year-old male colleague, Jimoh Abdulmueez, who was reported missing last Thursday.

The Guardian learnt from fellow students that the Computer Engineering undergraduate left the campus on Thursday evening for Ilorin, and has not been seen since. Subsequently, his colleagues stormed social media to announce the development and seek assistance from the public.

“Mueez said he was leaving for home on Thursday evening. He left Malete at about 7:00 p.m. The next day (Friday), he was supposed to have a test or examination. Some of his friends who didn’t see him, decided to call him. But he didn’t pick his calls.

“Friends who are closer to him and know the telephone number of his parents later called them. But the parents said that he didn’t come home. The parents had to visit the university campus the next day. They searched for him to no avail and had to report at the police station,” a source said.

When contacted, spokesperson for the state command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, promised to contact the Divisional Police Officer of the area for details and provide an update. He was yet to do so at press time.
