Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has chided political appointees from his zone, saying that they have performed below average and are causing problems for his government.

He noted that most of the Commissioners from other zones are the pride of his administration, particularly the Commissioner for Commerce and that of Agriculture.

The governor also noted that he will not intervene in the local council election coming up soon. He added that any serving chairman coming back will be determined by what he has on the ground and his acceptance by stakeholders.

Nwifuru stated these during a meeting of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Abakaliki. He maintained that instead of using the media to publicise what he has done, he would rather use the money to build infrastructure.

Nwifuru said that he had engaged two media houses for live coverage of an event, and each charged N15 million for two hours, making it N30 million. If it is four hours, it will be N60 million. Lamenting, he said that with such an amount, he could do more projects.
