The killers of a security guard that manned the residence of a legal practitioner, who is currently out of the country with his family, remain at large.

The Guardian learnt that gunmen invaded the house on June 6 and shot the guard.
It was reported that the property, situated at Rosam Church Street, Iyanu Bus Stop, Ibeshe, Ikorodu, Lagos, was attacked by three masked gunmen at about 2:00 a.m., on the fateful day.

The deceased’s neighbour, Qudus Onileere, expressed concern that the police were yet to apprehend the killers, about two weeks after the incident.

Onileere said during the attack, one of the two security guards on the premises was tied up. Another, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, who had been sleeping, woke up and attempted to run for his life but was shot dead by the gunmen.

He revealed that the assailants also carted away two Bajaj motorcycles belonging to the guards.

“The incident has been reported at the Ipakodo Police Division. The Hausa community, to which the deceased belonged, took his corpse away and buried it at the cemetery at Gberigbe, Ikorodu, on the same day, according to Islamic injunctions,” he said.

Onileere said the property was also attacked some years ago.

Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, however, said the matter was not reported.

According to him, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ipakodo only found out about the attack days after the body was buried, and that no autopsy was carried out.
