Concerns over alleged police abduction of 22-year-old son in Rivers

Isah
The family of Ibrahim Isah has raised concerns over the whereabouts of its 22-year-old son who has been missing for more than 24 hours.

It alleged that Isah was abducted on Monday afternoon.

It said eyewitnesses claimed he was forcibly taken at gunpoint on Wobu Street/Ikwerre Road, Mile 3, Diobu, at 4:30 p.m., by five men in police uniform, driving a vehicle with tinted glasses, and armed with AK-47 rifles.

The family said it had visited both the Mile 3 Police Station and the Octopus Strike Force, however, officers there denied knowledge of his arrest or whereabouts.

His younger sister, Ramat Isah, in an interview with journalists, said: “We were surprised when somebody informed us that men in police uniform forced Ibrahim into a car, while he was at Ikwerre Road/Wobu Street, Mile 3, Diobu. Since Monday, we have been trying to call his phone number but it is switched off till this moment. We have not heard anything about him.

“We are begging the Commissioner of Police to radio his people to let us know what the issue is. We went to Octopus Strike Force (C4i) and UST (Mile 3 Police Station). They said there was nobody like that with them. His name is Ibrahim Isah. I am his younger sister. I reside at 29 Oguagu Street, Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt.”

When contacted, the spokesperson for Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, promised to investigate and make a statement. She hadn’t done so as at press time.
