Controversy trails gunmen abduction of ex-Rivers guber candidate, killing of aides

Controversy, yesterday, trailed the abduction of the 2023 governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in Rivers State, Sobomabo Jackrich by armed men in military uniform.


The Guardian learnt that two of his aides, namely; Diamond Tamunoiminabo and Sincere Jackrich were killed in the incident and their bodies taken away by the gunmen.

His media aide, George Zua confirmed that the operation was carried out in a commando style at his Usokun residence in Degema Local Council of the state.

According to George Zua, the operation began at about 2:00a.m. and lasted for over eight hours.

However, spokesperson for the State’s Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who reacted to the incident on a group WhatsApp platform, said the operation was carried out by another security agency.

She said: “He was arrested by another security agency.”
