The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi has matriculated 5,507 students into its National Diploma and Higher National Diploma for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The Polytechnic Rector, Sani Usman, made this known on Tuesday during the matriculation ceremony while warning the newly admitted students against cultism.

Usman congratulated the new students, saying that their journey at the Polytechnic promised to be both challenging and rewarding, “and we are honoured to accompany you every step of the way.

As you embark on this transformative experience, remember that you are not alone.

“You are part of a diverse and dynamic community that values excellence, integrity, and mutual respect. Together, let us strive to uphold the noble ideals upon which this Polytechnic was founded and make positive impacts on the world around us.”

Usman said that out of the 7,917 applications for admission were received by the Polytechnic, 6,843 were selected but only 5,507 registered. 2,732 students were admitted into the Higher National Diploma (HND) and 2,775 for the National Diploma (ND).

He said, “as you embark on this journey, I must caution you against the pitfalls that might threaten to derail your path to success. Corruption, indecent dressing, examination misconduct, drug abuse and cultism are scourges that have no place within the walls of this Polytechnic.

“I urge you to uphold the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and moral values. Let honesty be your compass, and let your actions be guided by the principles of righteousness and fairness. Remember that your choices not only reflect upon yourselves but also upon the reputation of this esteemed Institution.”
