Council chair flags off construction of legislative chamber


The Chairman, Ikorodu Local Council, Wasiu Adesina has flagged off the construction of the Ikorodu Local Council legislative chamber. The project, expected to be completed within six months, is part of the efforts of the council to improve and enhance the operation of the lawmakers.

   
Present at the official groundbreaking ceremony held at the council secretariat, were the Member, House of Representatives, Ikorodu Constituency, Babajimi Benson and other party faithful. The Chairman noted that the construction of the chamber was long overdue, adding that the chamber will comprise of 10 spacious and well-equipped offices, legislative chamber, conference hall and open gallery.
   
He said: “The legislative arm is key and this facility is to allow us to make complete separation of power without interference. By next year, our budget will be presented here.” He mentioned other projects he is interested in embarking upon before his tenure expires in 16 months time.
   
According to him, “After the legislative chamber is completed, we are going to flag off the Solomade-Ajalaya Street. Also, there is a street in Elesin, Agura which we are going to do the surfacing.” He charged Nigerians to exercise patience with the current administration over the economic crisis in the country as things will soon take shape.
   
In his remarks, Benson hailed the council chairman for being committed to the development of the community and nation at large.He emphasised how peaceful relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government can birth reformed policies that would bring about development and prosperity for a country.The leader of the house, Adebola Adebowale expressed appreciation to the chairman over its commitment to ensure separation of powers.
