Court fixes March 27 for arraignment of building maintenance firm’s MD over alleged forgery

Federal High Court, Lagos

Justice Sherifat Sonaike of a Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) has fixed March 27 for arraignment of the Managing Director of CMB Building Maintenance and Investment Limited, Kelechukwu Mbagwu, over alleged forgery.

Mbagwu was accused of forging the signature of the late Olufemi Folarin Oshile.

The judge fixed the date after the state prosecuting counsel, Matthew Olateju, told the court that the defendant was yet to be served the charge because he was not in custody.

Olateju said that the prosecution has communicated with the nominal complainant to see how the defendant can be served.

He prayed the court for an adjournment of the case to enable the prosecution to serve the defendant.

The state government has filed a one-count charge of forgery against Mbagwu.

According to the prosecution, his offence contradicts the provision of Section 365 (3) (e) of the Criminal Law, Cap C.17, Vol 3, Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The prosecution said the defendant, sometime between 2010 to 2012, at 6/8 Panti Street, Adekunle, Yaba, Lagos State, forged the signature of the late Oshile.
