Deposed Emir of Kano Aminu Ado Bayero

A Kano State high court on Monday ordered the immediate eviction of the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero from the Nassarawa palace extension in Kano.

In an exparte injunction with suit no. K/1000/2024 granted by Justice Aminu Adamu Aliyu also ordered Bayero and the four deposed first-class chiefs to stop parading themselves with their previous traditional titles.

The order directed the police command and Nigerian Army to ensure strict enforcement of the order while taking over the Nassarawa palace where the Bayero has been residing in the last three days.

The suit filed by Barrister Ibrahim Isa Wangida Esq on behalf of Kano State Attorney General, Speaker Kano State House of Assembly and Kano State House of Assembly (plaintiffs) is challenging the five deposed first class chiefs, Inspector General of Police IGP, Commissioner of Police, Kano, Directorate of State Security (DSS), Nigerian Army and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp.


According to the order, “That an order of interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the 1st, 2nd, 3rd 4th & 5th Defendants either by themselves, servants, privies, and or any other persons or officers serving under them or acting in connection with any other person from parading themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed by the Applicants.

“That an order is hereby granted to the extent that theCommissioner of Police Kano State should immediately takeover the palace of the Emir of Kano situate being and lying at State Road Kano and evict the 1st Defendant/Respondent (Bayero) from the said palace pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.


“That an order of this Hon. Court is hereby granted restrainingthe Bayero, and other deposed emirs from parading themselvesas Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye in the interestof peace in Kano pending the hearing and determination of themotion on notice.

“That an order is hereby made that 1 ^ (st) – 5 ^ (th) Defendants beserved through the office of the Commissioner Police, KanoState who is to ensure immediate implementation of the orderof the Hon. Court in the interest of justice”.

Justice Aliyu has adjourned the motion on notice to11th June, 2024 for hearing.
