Court remands four in Kuje Correctional Centre over cyberbulling

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered for the remand in Kuje Correctional Centre of four persons accused of cyber bullying and stalking of Jesam Michael, the Chief Executive Officer of Afriq Arbitrage, crypto platform.

In a suit instituted by the Inspector General of Police, has the defendant as: Humble Prince Eta, Donald Michael, Fifeyin Awajumo and Michael Okoh, who are accused of using social media platforms: Facebook and WhatsApp-to send messages under the heading “Jesam Michael Refund Back our Money.”

It was alleged that within the period of January to April 2024 they repeatedly sent messages threatening bodily harm and death to the CEO of the crypto platform, his staff and family members.


At today’s proceedings the four accused persons pleaded not guilty on a four-count charge bordering on cyber bullying and stalking leveled against them.

The trial judge, Joyce Abdulmalik, subsequently adjourned the matter till 13 May for commencement of trial, and ordered the defendants be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending determination of their bail application.
