Justice Rahman Oshodi of a Lagos Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Ikeja, yesterday, remanded one Onyeka Mbaka in a correctional facility for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.
The judge ordered Mbaka’s remand after he was arraigned on a one-count charge of defilement brought against him by the state government. The prosecution alleged that the defendant committed the offence sometime in March 2023, at No 16, Moshalasi Street, in the Ilasa area of Lagos, by having sexual intercourse with the survivor.
The prosecuting counsel, Bukola Okeowo, told the court that the offence contravened the provision of Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
Following his not-guilty plea, the prosecution prayed the court to remand the defendant accordingly.She informed the court of the prosecution’s intention to call three witnesses to prove the charge against the defendant and asked for a trial date. Justice Rahman ordered that the defendant be remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre, and adjourned till March 22 for trial.
