SENATOR Victor Ndoma-Egba (Central Senatorial District), Cross River, has donated four transformers worth N8 million to four local councils in the district.

Ndoma-Egba, who presented the transformers yesterday in Calabar, said the gesture was to boost power supply in the state with the collaboration of Niger Delta Developmental Commission (NDDC).

The benefiting local councils are Boki, Ikom, Yakur and Obubra. The senator pledged to extend the same gesture to the two remaining councils in the district - Abi and Etung.

He said: “I make this presentation to the four chairmen with the hope that very shortly, we will get two additional transformers to present to the others”.

Ndoma-Egba explained that Boki transformer would be installed in Betriku, Ikom’s would be installed in Aparabon, while those of Yakur and Obubra would be installed at Ekori and Fatora.

He added: “I am already in contact with NDDC for the installation of the transformers. I am sure that when they work out the details for the installation, you will be communicated”.

The senator thanked the NDDC for its support, adding that he would continue to count on the commission to bring more development and dividend of democracy to the Central Senatorial District.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman of Ikom Local Council, Ogar Egodo, commended Ndoma-Egba for attracting development to the Central Senatorial District and Cross River at large.

Egodo stated that the donation of the transformer was a landmark gesture that would enhance the power situation in the area and boost economic activities in the district.

He appealed to the NDDC to provide high-capacity transformers to more locations in Ikom.
