C’River Speaker swears in new PDP member

Cross River House of Assembly Speaker, Eteng Williams, has sworn in the new Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, Mr. Ekeng Edet, to represent Akpabuyo State Constituency.

The speaker, who was among the 18 out of the 25 members that defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), swore in Edet yesterday at the Assembly’s Chambers in Calabar.

Edet took over from the late Elizabeth Ironbar, who passed on sometime last year.

Recall that Ironbar was among the seven PDP members who refused to defect to the APC with Ayade.

The new member representing Akpabuyo emerged as winner of the February 26 Akpabuyo State Constituency by-election with 5866 votes against Bassey Effiom of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 5363.
