Cross River By-election: APC guber aspirant, others commend voters, INEC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Cross River State governorship aspirant, Etubom Bassey Ndem and the Chairman, Akpabuyo Local Council, Emmanuel Bassey, have commended voters and the Independent National Electoral Commission for a hitch free by-election, yesterday.

They made the remarks during the Akpabuyo State Constituency by-election after casting their votes at their polling units.

Ndem said the process was a peaceful and transparent, noting that the people came out in their numbers happy to cast their votes.

Ndem, who also commended the police for making sure that there was law and order, before the by-election, noted that there was a great deal of propaganda about security presence.

Also speaking, Bassey said: “INEC has improved on the method of carrying out the exercise. We have not had any incident, so it means if INEC can improve more on what they are doing, good things await Nigerians in the future,” he assured.

On his part, the Commissioner for Rural Transformation, Edem Effiom, lamented that there was voters’ apathy in his ward at Etunkpe polling unit 1 and 2, Yellow Duke Atimbo West.

As at the time of filling this report, voting has ended and collation of results has started in all the wards.
