Cyber Crime: GSAC, others collaborate with EFCC to rehabilitate ex-prisoners

A Non-Governmental organisation (NGO), Global Society for Anti-Corruption (GSAC), has sought collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to rehabilitate youths who have served their terms in Correctional Service Centres.

This was made known, on Thursday, when the management of GSAC in collaboration with Rural Engagement and Development Foundation (REDFoundation), and Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET), paid a working visit to the Enugu Zonal Head of EFCC, Aliyu Naibi.

Speaking on behalf of GSAC and the other civil society groups, Country Director, GSAC, Amaka Nweke, explained that the rehabilitation of youths convicted on cybercrimes has been a major concern to them as an organisation so that they wouldn’t return to their former state, after serving their prison terms.

“We have come to seek partnership with you on a different direction. It has been a major concern to us concerning the rehabilitation of young ex-prisoners, who had indulged in cybercrimes and related activities. We found out that when these young people come out from prisons or Correctional Service Centres, they tend to go back to their old ways of live in crime,” she said.
