Cycling boss sure Port Harcourt ready to host successful championship

The Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN), in conjunction with Rivers State government, has concluded plans to host the National Cycling Road Championship in Port Harcourt on May 21, 2023.

CFN President, Giadomenico Masari, at the weekend, commended Governor Nyesome Wike for approving to host a national cycling championship on the eve of his departure, to support the development of the sport.

“This is good for the sport, especially the prize money, which is the first of its kind in Nigeria’s cycling,” Masari said. Winners in the four categories of the one-day championship, Masari said, will earn between N300,000 and N600,000 along with other consolation prizes.

The four categories are elite men, women and junior men, women. 

Meanwhile the technical director of the cycling federation, Bashir Mohammed is expected to lead an advance party of officials to Port Harcourt during the week to mark the route of the competition and make arrangements for other logistics.
