Imo Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Dan Chike Ogu, has expressed the determination of the Hope Uzodimma-led state government to boost sports and youth development in the state.
He also disclosed that the ongoing renovation of the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, would turn the arena into one of the country’s sports hubs, empower over 100, 000 youths and help in discovering hidden talents.
In a statement, yesterday, by the Special Adviser, to Governor Uzodimma on Public Enlightenment, Eze Ugochukwu, the commissioner said the Olympic standard size swimming pool, rehabilitation of internal roads, installation of street lights and the CCTV, would change the face of the facility.
Ogu said: “The most important aspect of sport is the provision of enduring infrastructure that can help the youth to exhibit their inbuilt talent and unlock their potential, as we are on the path to making Imo State a global sports hub.”
