Dangote Foundation distributes rice to Muslim communities in Ogun


As part of efforts to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship in the country, the Aliko Dangote Foundation has distributed bags of rice to Muslim communities in Ijebuland, Ogun State.

The donation of the foodstuff, under the programme tagged: “National Food Intervention Programme,” Ijebu Zone distribution was done at the Ijebu-Ode Central Mosque, Ijebu-Ode and it is expected to be spread to communities within the Ijebu axis of the state.

Secretary-General of the Ogun State Muslim Council, Kamaldeen Akintunde, who coordinated the exercise, said that 40,000 bags of rice were allocated to the state under the initiative and the gesture would be extended to people of other faiths as hunger knows no bound.

Meanwhile, 9,000 bags of rice were handed over to leaders of Islamic groups and communities at the Ijebu Zone distribution with the Grand Chief Imam of Ijebuland, Sheik Muftau Ayanbadejo, in attendance. Ayanbadejo prayed for Dangote Foundation, Ogun State, ljebuland, the Ogun State Muslim Council and Nigeria as a whole.

Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Central Mosque, Dr T. M. Salisu, in his remarks, admonished those present to distribute with the fear of Allah and ensure that the food items are not diverted.

Also, Chairman, Ogun State Muslim Council, ljebu Zone, Bola Yisa and Grand Mufti of the state, Mikail Shile Rufai, admonished Muslims to make acts of giving and zakat a priority, especially when they are in position to do so. The team had earlier visited Egba zone for the distribution.
