Dansol launches virtual school to boost personalised learning

Dansol High School

Dansol High School has unveiled a virtual school in conjunction with Edves, an education online portal, to enhance students’ educational opportunity and broaden their learning experience.

The initiative is expected to transform teaching and learning, extending them beyond the traditional classroom. The initiative, tagged ‘Personalised Learning’ (PL) by Edves, allows teachers to create engaging content and provide students with access to pre-recorded lessons, participate in live classes and ensure a comprehensive and interactive learning experience.

Speaking at the event, Executive Director, Dansol High School, Mrs Omotara Olanitori, said the move is to ensure that students have access to good, quality learning and access broader content on different subjects to enrich their learning experience.

She said the initial launch would focus on three core subjects, namely Biology, Technical Drawing, and Economics, which were carefully selected to provide students with a well-rounded curriculum, catering to their diverse interests and aspirations.

Olanitori, who revealed that the programme would soon accommodate other subjects, especially Mathematics and English, said the school will commence with SS1 students and later include JSS1 to SS3 students.

The director assured that the school would ensure the platform continues to deliver on quality through constant monitoring and upgrades to the system.

Chief Executive Officer, Edves, Dimeji Falana, said they built the technology on the foundation of data science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to see how administrators, parents and teachers are collaborating on the journey of students, so that those falling behind can be identified by the system and recommendations created for intervention to improve their performance. He said the firm decided to work with the school because it has consistently delivered quality teaching for several years.

Falana said the goal of the platform is to ensure that the quality they have achieved when students attend school physically could be replicated online for learners anywhere in the world.

He explained that the platform would provide personalised learning that allows students to consume recorded content online and also request virtual sessions with the teachers to ask questions and seek clarifications.
