Delta monarchs resolve to pursue peace

Leadership and members of the reconstituted Delta State Traditional Rulers Council have resolved to promote peace and ethnic harmony in their various domains to create conducive atmosphere for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to finish strong.

The monarchs made the pledge in a five-point communiqué issued at the end of their inaugural meeting held at the Council’s secretariat in Asaba.

The Chairman of the council and Orodje of Okpe, Major General Felix Mujakpuerou (rtd), Ohrue 1, who presented the communiqué, said the council members would work in line with the policies and programmes of the Delta State Government towards the overall development of state.


Flanked by the Ist Vice Chairman and Pere of Akugbene Mien, Luke Kalanama V111 and 2nd Vice Chairman and Obi of Ubulu Unor, Agbogidi Henry Kikachukwu 1, the Chairman said: ‘’We wish to advise returning and new members of the Council to familiarise themselves with the rules regulating the conduct of traditional rulers in the state even as we promise to maintain peace and order in our domains.’’

The Council drew the attention of relevant government agencies to the need to put necessary machinery in place for regular maintenance of the traditional rulers secretariat edifice.

The monarchs urged Okowa to remain focused on his development programme for the state, assuring him that they would continue to pray for him to finish strong.
