DFID chief asks Buhari to deliver on campaign promises

STILL basking in the euphoria that greeted the new regime of President Muhammadu Buhari, Head of British Department For International Development (DFID), Ben Mellor yesterday called on him to get to work immediately.

Speaking at a pre-inaugural retreat for newly elected members of the National Assembly organised by Senators Forum and Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), Mellor said aside Nigerians, people all over the world are eagerly waiting for President Buhari to deliver on his campaign promises.

Mellor added that winning the election was far less challenging than the task of solving the many challenges facing the country.

“About two months ago, Nigerians faced the challenge of going to the polls ‎to choose their President and other leaders. Now is the time to face the difficult task of delivering to the Nigerian people and of course people all over the world expectations that are very high not just from Nigerians but world over,” Mellor stated

He called on the newly elected members of the 8th Assembly to perform their legislative roles in ensuring that the sky-high expectations of the people are met.
