Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has broken his silence on a 2016 video that surfaced recently. The video was showing him physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie.

In an Instagram video, Diddy expressed remorse for his actions. He said, “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video.” He described the incident as one of the “darkest times” in his life and admitted that he was “disgusted” by his actions.

What went down:

The video in question was released by CNN on May 17. It shows an altercation between Combs and Cassie (born Casandra Ventura) that matches allegations she made in a now-settled lawsuit from last November.

The security camera footage shows Ventura exiting a hotel room and walking toward an elevator. Combs follows her and can be seen grabbing her by the neck and throwing her to the ground. He then starts kicking her and grabbing her purse and suitcase.

In his Instagram video, Diddy revealed that he sought professional help following the incident, including therapy and rehab. “I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to be a better man. Each and every day,” Combs added.

Despite the apology, Diddy made it clear that he is not asking for forgiveness, stating, “I’m truly sorry.”

Furthermore, The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office released a statement regarding the assault video involving Sean “Diddy” Combs and Cassie Ventura.

The office stated that they found the images in the video “extremely disturbing and difficult to watch” but noted that they are unable to prosecute Combs for the conduct depicted in the video.

The reason given for this decision is that the conduct occurred in 2016, which is beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted. For assault, the statute of limitations is one year from the date of the offence.
