Diocese of Lagos West begins synod

The yearly synod of the Diocese of Lagos West (Anglican Communion) will start tomorrow at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, as a statement by the diocese’s media team leader, Mr Tunji Oguntuase, has said.

The four-day synod, according to the statement, will start with an opening service that will be attended by bishops of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Community) and other dignitaries.

Bishop of the diocese, The Rt. Rev. Olusola Odedeji, who will preside over the Third Session of the Ninth Synod, has said far-reaching decisions to guide the diocese will be taken at the business sessions.

He said: “Our diocese has, by the grace of God, made remarkable progress in the past 25 years. We have no intention of relenting, and this synod will set the agenda for the next three years and beyond.”

When Odedeji delivers his charge on Friday, he will examine the state of the nation and review progress made since the last synod.

The Anglican Diocese of Lagos West was established in 1999 and has since maintained a pride of place in the Church of Nigeria and Anglican Communion worldwide.
