Dogara endorses APC guber candidate

Bauchi State APC governorship candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (rtd),

Immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has endorsed All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Bauchi State, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar (rtd).

Dogara, a member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), yesterday, led a campaign team of Abubakar across some Bauchi local councils, including Kirfi and Alkaleri, from where Governor Bala Mohammed hails, urging the people to toe the path of honour by voting out Mohammed, his party man, from office.

Speaking to a crowd of supporters in Alkaleri, on Wednesday, Dogara maintained that the state is desirous of a change in leadership.

Said he: “We came to tell you the truth, that we need to effect a change of leadership in Bauchi. I came here to enlighten you that though your son (Governor Mohammed) is there, since he is not doing well, we should change him. I urge you all to cast your vote for Abubakar.”

He described the retired air chief as a father, who would bring succour to Bauchi people.

Dogara had delivered APC’s Jafaru Leko for Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Shehu Buba for Bauchi South in the Senate at the last National Assembly ballot.

In 2019, Dogara led a coalition of political parties and interest groups in Bauchi to oust former governor Mohammed Abubakar and installed Mohammed.

But after the elections, Mohammed reportedly reneged on all agreements he entered into before the election and declared political war on prominent citizens of the state, who opposed his style of governance, including Dogara and Bello Kirfi, who was a minister in the Second Republic under Shehu Shagari.

Dogara accused Mohammed of corruption, including non-payment of salaries of teachers and civil servants.
